A Holiday Card For You – My Dear Readers

December 24, 2016   32 Comments

I would like to share a short story about someone who has changed my life.

holiday card

No one has time for a long story today so I will not go on and on.

This is a photo of my mantle. We are big fans of Santa here and get the house ready for his visit. I have 2 children – 10 and 12 – and they are SO good right now. They take this Christmas business very seriously.

But, I don’t want to talk about my kids today. As you pan down from the mantle, you find this animal.

My dog, Milo, loves to sleep in front of the fire. Every time I walk by, I marvel at his ability to relax. He will jump around – demanding that you toss his favorite toy – and then five minutes later he is crashed out in total relaxation on top of a blanket.

Last week, I was feeling tired before my daughter came home from school and I decided to sit on the couch for a few minutes. Milo jumped up next to me and proceeded to curl up and fall asleep. The next thing I knew, my daughter was walking in the door waking me up.

He tuned me into the depth of my exhaustion but he also helped me get some rest.

I don’t know how to explain it but he helps me see that life isn’t always a race. Sometimes you can stop and curl up in front of the fire.

This holiday season, take a moment and curl up somewhere (without a screen or even a book). Enjoy your breath and heart beat.

Lots of light and love,

Lisa AKA Snack Girl and Milo

I've been reading you since a long time, from Caracas, Venezuela.

Even if we don't have the same products of US (many times), is always good to read your tips and the funny way you do.

Hope you have a great holiday with your family!

As I write this note my little Yorkie Cricket is lying across my legs waiting for me to start my day. She wakes me every morning by licking my face. Not a bad way to start the day, with a little love! God bless you Lisa for sharing your lives with us all, it is always a bright spot in my day. Thank you! Merry Christmas and peace in the New Year.

Merry Christmas Lisa and Milo and the rest of your family! Have a wonderful holiday!

Lisa- thank you for being such a great influence. I love following you!

My two cats give me what Milo gives you. If one is curled up on my lap, I won't move. They help me to remember that it's OK to slow down & chill

Merry Christmas 🎁🎄

Merry Christmas and Blessings for 2017!🎄🌟🌟🎉

Merry Christmas Lisa, and God Bless you, Milo and your family with another year of good health, cheer and great blog articles!

Ann

A very Happy Christmas from the UK and my wonderful Akita. Dogs are such wonderful friends. Not only do they seem to understand us but they are also fantastic confidantes who never give bad advice.

Merry Christmas, Lisa, and to all your family. Thank you for writing, and thank you also to my fellow readers, who give their added ideas here. Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah, and every other thing you celebrate this season!

Merry Christmas, and thank you for your perspectives, be they nutritious, humorous or philosophical!

We can learn so much from our pets. My dog, Chloe, a rescue from the Humane Society, also helps to remind me to stop and smell the roses (and pet the doggie).

I am so blessed. Thank you.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Merry Christmas Lisa & family! Thank you for adding your special perspective to an otherwise busy time, esp for Moms. Milo is so cute and so is your sweet mantel. Enjoy every minute of your holiday!

Happy holidays to you and your family Snack Girl!! Xo from all of us in NYC😀

Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New year Lisa to you and your wonderful family.

A special Woof Woof Christmas to Milo from me and my 5 doggies.. They do give me a lot of love...

My cat and I just had a snuggle session before my husband and child woke up- we watched a favorite Christmas movie together snuggled under a blanket. Happy to see this post. Merry Christmas!

I appreciate everything you do, Lisa, including reminding us that we all need rest. If I could, I'd attach a photo of my dad, one of the last I have of him. He is lying in his bed from Hospice with the oxygen attached, and curled up at his side is our youngest cat. I've long thought of our cats as heart medicine. I love your Milo story. Thank you.

Merry Christmas Lisa and Milo and the rest of the family.

Thanks for this ! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas🎄 to you and your family. I agree, animals are our best friends. They have the ability to soothe and calm us.

Always enjoy your posts.

Dear Lisa, Thank you for the sweet reminder that even our pets know when to slow down; that they often teach us lessons we need to learn. Like unconditional ❤️! And that we all need affection! Merry Christ-mas, happiness, and good health to you and your fam, including Milo🐶 Looking forward to the new year with you😉💐

Love the pics. What an adorable dog! Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays for all of you from a Dutch lady, living in NS Canada.

Lisa, this post came just at the right time. I just read it a few minutes ago after getting home from working out. As we were on the way to work out, I mentioned to my husband that my resolution for the new year is to not feel like I have to be doing something all the time and try to relax more, especially during the week. I usually am not a resolution type person, but I think this is important. I always have something to do and feel like I should be doing something. However, in the grand scheme of things, the majority of those things can wait. I agree with you on the fact that our pets (we have a Shih Tzu) help us "chill out" at times. On the weekends, when he is sitting in my lap or next to me, I do tend to sit a little longer. Happy Holidays (whichever you celebrate) to you and your readers. Here's to a healthy and happy New Year to all!

Merry Christmas!

That's a wonderful story. In this fast paced world we have 2 take a time out away from everything. Thanks for sharing. We can take a page from our furry family members. Happy New Year!!
