The season of the heart shaped box is here! Or, as I like to call it - "chocolate season".

Ten Healthier Chocolate Snacks

The displays of chocolate seem to be at the end of every aisle of the supermarket. I think I found myself picking up and putting down about four different beautiful packages. Yes, I did end up buying some - but not for myself, of course.

Chocolate is a wonderful substance. I feel better after I've had some and find myself craving it at certain times of the month. ahem. That is why you are handed a coupon for a bag of Hershey's kisses when you buy a package of tampons.

I have compiled a list of healthier and lower calorie chocolate options to keep you from consuming too many from the heart shaped box (2 chocolates = 150 calories).

I use chocolate chips in many of the recipes to give the flavor of chocolate without adding too many of the calories.

Here are ten chocolate snacks in no particular order:

I deal with the chocolate season and throughout the year, by having my daily Shakeology smoothie. This nutritional snack has been key to my 100 lb weight loss success!

Great post- thank you!

I will deal with it by mixing up a new favorite chocolate dip! I bought some sugar-free strawberry jelly (10 calories per Tbsp if i remember right), which i didn't care for too much straight out of the jar (too much splenda in it, i think) so i got to thinking how i could doctor it up to make it more palatable. I stirred 1 tsp of regular cocoa powder and 1 tsp of dark chocolate cocoa powder in to a small bowl of a warmed up Tbsp of the jelly and it is DIVINE. The cocoas have about 5 calories per tsp, i think. Dip your favorite fruit or cracker in it and WOW it's awesome. Especially for 20 calories!

I just eat a small handful of Gheridelli 60% Cacao chips. They call them bittersweet but they don't taste bad, they taste like good dark chocolate. I don't need to cook it or mix it with anything. Though sometimes I add walnuts.

Oh my, I just fell into chocolate heaven! I have to scopp out all of these recipes! Thanks for sharing!!

This is the first I've heard about Shakeology - what's the info on this?
