Top Ten Late Night Snacks

You are awake and after a long day, you are hungry. What to do?

How about grabbing that container of Chinese take-out with a fork? or eating some cold pizza? Once when I was super hungry at 11 PM, I ate a hamburger.

The story of that hamburger is very sad because it did not remain in my tummy. NEVER again will I eat a hamburger that late at night.

The first rule of late night eating is to stay away from heavy, fatty, and otherwise unhealthy foods and treat it just like any other snack time in your day.

When you overeat before bed, your body is much more likely to store those calories as fat. Try to stick to less than 300 calories and wait at least an hour before you go to sleep. Your sleep will improve if you stay away from food that will upset your stomach (yeah, I’m looking at you, chili!).

Great idea! I dont usually have a late night snack (i go to bed at 9pm) but sometimes after supper I like to have either a piece of dark chocolate, or some cheese. Last night I had 1 healthy oatmeal cranberry cookie with some almond milk, YUMMY!

I'm sad to see that one of your cottage cheese recipes isn't on here! :( Cottage cheese is the PERFECT late night snack. It's full of slow digesting casein. ;) I read somewhere to mix a tablespoon or two in with 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and I'm not sure what possibly made me try it....but it was FABULOUS. Use low sodium cheese and low sodium salsa...I like Chilpotle. ;) Yum! Glad to see eggs though....another perfect late night snack! Egg whites! Scramble them and adds cinnamon for something sweet! Sweeter if you gotta!

I actually like plain oatmeal or a bowl of (non-sugary) cereal. Those are my top late-night snacks!

Thanks for all the great recipes. We love incorporating these with our Isagenix. We are always looking for healthy snacks and it's so hard out there now with all the GMO stuff going on. Anyone looking for isagenix info, we are in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada and are loving these products AND the company!!, but it's so important to also have healthy snacks!! Thanks again!
