Five Quick Meal Ideas with Alexia Fries: Easy and Delicious
December 12, 2014
I love to eat fries but what I don’t like is the lack of control when you go out to eat. Have you seen the piles of fries you are served?
Alexia has created wonderful fries made with recognizable ingredients that allow you to indulge without guilt. I found these fries at my local Whole Foods but you can find them at natural, club, grocery stores nationwide. Visit Alexia Foods to find locations near you.
I like these because they are easy to cook, don’t have any preservatives, and taste like real fries (without the dripping fat of the deep fryer because you baked them).
Here are five, easy and FAST meal ideas for your family:
One of my go to meals when I run out of time is mussels and fries. Mussels are high in protein and low in calorie. Relative to other shellfish, they are relatively cheap. I wash about 3 pounds of mussels for a four person serving and heat in large pot with ½ cup white wine, beer, or water. They cook in about 12 minutes. I paired them with Alexia Organic Yukon Gold Fries which cook in about 26 minutes (so I make sure to bake them first).
Is there a meal more American than hamburgers and fries? I make this meal healthier by either having a bun or the fries. Also, I add tomato, lettuce, pickles, beets, or whatever yummy fruits and vegetables I have in the fridge to the burger. I use the Alexia Organic Yukon Gold Fries and ketchup with my burger.
You can’t go wrong with breakfast for dinner! This is my fried egg and sweet potato combination that works. Sweet potatoes supply a ton of vitamin A and are a nice change from white potatoes. These sweet potato fries are great because I don’t have to do the slicing and they don’t have a lot of added fat.
Salsa isn’t just for chips! This is a wonderful way to have a serving of vegetables (potatoes) with salsa instead of processed tortilla chips. Salsa with fries is a great side to a roast chicken or roasted salmon. I used Alexia Seasoned Waffle Cut Fries and my son went berserk (a little too berserk and I had to cut him off as he tried to eat all of them).
The Alexia Seasoned Waffle Cut Fries also make a wonderful main course if you want to serve “cheese fries” for dinner. I don’t use a lot of grated cheese (just enough to cover the top) and I add slices of avocado to keep the dish a bit lighter. These cheese fries go great with a salad and can be made in a flash. First, I bake the fries, then I run them under the broiler with the grated cheese, and then I add the avocado slices.
