Who doesn’t love hand-picked avocados shipped to your door? Farmer Ben from California Avocados Direct.com sent me a beautiful box of avocados and I felt I had to share. Not with my neighbors or close friends, but with YOU.

These avocados are picked, packed, and shipped on the same day and they taste divine. Of course, you are going to pay a premium for such lovely fruit.

In my box, I received six and they ripened at about the same time. I stored some in the refrigerator until we were ready to eat them. They disappeared quickly.

I like Avocado's on a sandwich with turkey, bacon, lettuce

And tomato on whole grain. Also make a mean guacamole with them. Use instead of mayo.

I chop them with a tomato some cucumber and or onion for crunch. Next I mix in a splash of lemon juice and as much hot sauce as I want that day. Add a tablespoon of Greek yogurt mix and eat. If you let it sit for awhile it gets even better. I eat it just like that but my son eats this on flat bread.

I love avocados by themselves & with other foods. One of my favorite ways to eat them is to slice & add to sliced/chopped cucumber, onion, & tomato. Add some celery seed, salt, & pepper. Add a splash of cold water & just a tiny bit of sugar & then fresh squeezed lime juice to top it off. Mix well & serve or let in marinate for a few hours & enjoy later. Yum!!!

My family & I eat avocados everyday! One of my favorite ways to have the is as a mayo substitute. I shred celery root & onions. Then I blend the avocados to make a dressing! My family & friends go nuts over it!

I have been known to eat avocados right out of their skins!!! I also like them in guacamole--my version, which is not spicy at all. But my favorite way is on a turkey sandwich. There's nothing better than the combo of turkey and avocado together. If I don't want the bread, I wrap a piece of turkey around a slice of avocado and eat it like that!!!!

I have a 5 1/2 month old daughter who we started on solid foods just yesterday! This first thing we fed her was smooth and creamy fresh and plain avocado! She ate 1/2 all by herself! My husband and I use avocado as a layering item on sandwiches, in salads and of course guacamole. We would LOVE to win the avocados for our new little bundle since she loves them so much :)

Lately my favorite breakfast is a basted egg, like my Grandma used to make, on a piece of whole wheat toast, that has been spread with fresh avocado. Also, I've been asking restaurants to replace their meat with avocados on their breakfast sandwiches (obviously this isn't an option at fast food places.)

As odd as the combination sounds, it is to DIE for! A salad comprised of equal amounts of avocado chunks and cantaloup chunks, with low sugar poppyseed dressing mixed in. Place on top of lettuce leaves or spinach. Beautiful, cool, refreshing, and soooo healthy! Divine!

Avocados are marvelous creatures you can have them in you salads but also in your smoothies! It gives that smoothie a special fatty, creamy and healthy consistence. I tried it replacing the milk or yogurt and the results are truly sensational. I hope I win this one because I am such a big fan!

I cut them in half and drizzle extra virgin olive oil on them and put them on the grill for 3 to4 minutes and feel like I'm in heaven eating them. Have all my friends and family doing the same thing. Yum

Our entire family loves them, Its kind of hard to keep any in the house long enough for me to actually get to make a recipe with them, because they are devoured so fast. We eat them as is, I do try to mash with peppers and onion and a pinch of garlic. All in all they are the perfect food. Did you know if you onloy want to eat 1/2 you can put the half with the Pit still in tact in the frig and it wont turn brown.

Avocados are excellent sliced with slivers of onion, dressed in olive oil, and eaten on salad or sandwiches; my own guacomole is my husband's favorite: mashed avocado, Tbsp chopped onion, 1/2 tsp. ground hot pepper, dash of lemon, 1/4 cup mayonnaise , a dash of datil pepper sauce or catsup. I tend to eat this over cherry tomatoes, or dip apple slices in it.

Favorite way to serve avocados? Wow, that is a really hard question! From the time you slice one open, it's fair game as far as I'm concerned. I like heated foods so putting a slice or two of avocado on a warm sandwich to a sunny-side-up eggs condiment to a cold avocado mash topping my warm corn tortilla, those are just a few rewards I enjoy with an avocado. Being a runner, I find that avocados offer my body healthy nutrients, which is by far my favorite idea. Healthy with moderation.

Margot Stiassni Sieracki My guacamole dressing is fun and easy. Take one avocado, cut open and remove pit. Transfer meat of avocado to a small bowl and mash up well. Add 2 tablespoons of your favorite salsa, mix in one teaspoon lime juice (sometimes I use Rose's lime juice that is also used for mixed drinks and mix well together. Voilà! Enjoy with chips or as spread on sandwiches or whatever!

I also cut them up into my salads, or to blend them with some almond milk, vanilla extract and ice to make a creamy shake. But I have to say my favorite is homemade guacamole with avocado, fresh-squeezed lime juice, tomatoes and onion. Mmmm delicious! Avocado is a perfect fix for me with baking since I have a fat intolerance. It makes my baked goods moist yet I do not have to worry about feeling sick after eating because of a high fat content. I make a dish my family calls "Yum" with diced red peppers, sweet corn, black beans, diced avocado, lime juice, salt & pepper. I love using avocados to make banana - avocado smoothies. Just throw a peeled avocado and a peeled banana in a blender with your choice of milk and sweetener (honey is great) with some ice cubes and blend. It will be the most creamy milkshake you've had! It's also a beautiful color.

I like to crack a fresh egg into the center of avocados, sprinkle a little bit of salt and pepper on top--maybe add a bit of lemon juice to cut through the fat--and bake them as a treat. However, as a college student here in Boston with no kitchen (no oven!), I have a tendency to slice up some avocado into a soup (chicken tortilla is the best!) or mix (cubed) with tomato, red onion, cucumber, a little bit of lettuce (chiffonade cut), feta, evoo and vinegar for an incredible Greek salad. :)

I use avocados on everything. It amazes me how many people do not like them. I love making fresh chunky guacamole. I use it on all my Mexican dishes and any leftovers I use on sandwiches. I do not like mayo so this is a great substitute. I also slice it up for sandwiches and burgers. I cut it in chunks and top salads. And sometimes I just peel it and eat it all by itself!

I've only been an avocado lover for a little over a year, and there's no going back for me! My 2 favorite ways to serve them are: fresh, ripe avocado spread on 2 slices of toasted lowfat rye bread, with fresh slices of tomatoes, add a little salt and pepper and... heaven! My 2nd favorite is to serve them as part of a salad.. Fresh avocado chunks, some beets cut up, black olives, green olives, a little lettuce torn up, some pasta if desired, and some light dressing! I love avacados two ways. First is in my morning green smoothie. If I don't use banana, I use avacado. 1 avacado, 2 cups kale/spinach, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup mango (frozen) - makes smoothie thicker like a creamy milkshake, and 1/8 c walnuts or almonds. The 2nd way I love them is on a black bean and brown rice wrap, just lightens up the entire taste.

I sometimes put a half of avocado on top of a bagel or rice cake with a little lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt. I also make an avocado salad with cubed avocado, diced tomatoes (I like grape for the mild sweetness, but romas or any will do), red or green onion, garlic salt, olive oil, and a little cilantro. My fiance and I are crazy about avocados!! We cut them in chunks and sprinkle them with olive oil, salt, pepper and lime juice or we will wrap prosciutto around slices for a delicious snack. We make the traditional guacamole however we love to add some extra garlic! We also mash them up and use them on sandwiches as a spread replacing Mayonnaise. I introduced my fiance to chopping them up and putting them in scrambled eggs in the am!!! We use them in salads, as well as in turkey sandwiches or a grilled cheese here and there!! I put avocados on almost everything. They are an extra treat on a salad, they replace my mayo on sandwiches, perfect on a cracker with some tomato and goats cheese, and they are even great just by themselves with a dash of salt!

We all love guacamole and getting an avocado to the perfect ripeness is key.

What can I say? They are truly delicious and healthy - it's a win win!

love, love, love avocados...i eat them almost everyday! and i have many ways that i serve them, but my favorite lately is to mix about an ounce of an avocado with an ounce of greek yogurt, some salt and lime juice. It makes a yummy creamy condiment to my hummus wraps or veggie burger!

My favorite way to eat "Avos." is to toast whole grain bread, then cover the bread with tahini butter, then put thinly sliced Avos.on the bread.

One of these make a nice breakfast. Two of them is a meal.

Served "baked potato style" with a buffet of topping choices. Everyone tops with whatever they like (salsa, sour cream, shredded chicken, pico, etc). I just cut them in half, remove the seed and everyone tops their own and we scoop it out of the skin with a spoon. So fun and absolutely delicious!

This is probably typical, but I love my avacados made into a simple but delicious guacamole. Onion, garlic, green( Serano) chilies, tomato, a pinch or so of salt and some lime juice to help the guac keep. Sometimes i'll just eat this spicy guac with some brown rice and a tortilla. my boyfriend loves his avacados plain with a little salt as a nice side dish. We love avacados, but they tend to be about $1-$2 a piece and aren't always ripe enought to eat when we pick them up from the store. I would love to try these !

How do I NOT serve avocados? That would be the easier question. I mash 1/2 of an avocado. Mix with 1 tbsp of seasoned rice vinegar, crush a clove of a garlic and add some shaved ginger. Then I toss it with my mixed greens to make an oil free, super healthy, yummy and addictive salad dressing. :-) I wake up some days wanting it for breakfast! Lol.

I LOVE avocados and I finally got my husband to love them as well. I eat them a variety of ways, mashed with some great salsa mixed in, on salads, on sandwiches and my new way in my Nutri Bullet. My mom saw on TV where if you eat an avocado every day it will naturally lower blood cholesterol levels to the good range. I don't have high cholesterol but my sister in law had it way out of range and I told her about this and she tried and for sure it worked. Her doctor wanted to know what she had been taking. LOVE AVOCADOS!!!!

I make the avocado the star! I halve an avocado and remove the pit. I chop up a ripe tomato, sometimes add a little diced onion, and layer those on top of the avocado. I then sprinkle some sea salt, add a few dabs of hot sauce and voila! Yum. And super healthy-- the only Weight Watchers points are from the avocado so it makes a great in-between meal or appetizer. If I only want to eat one half at a time, I squeeze lemon juice on the avocado to help it from browning and pop it in the fridge with saran wrap.

I cut them in half, remove pit. Then I mince some garlic (or shallots if you like) and mix with flavored bread crumbs or panko. Sprinkle the bread crumbs and garlic mixture all over top of avocados. I broil them for about 5 to 7 minutes. When I remove them I drizzle balsamic vinegar on them and sprinkle chopped cilantro or parley or thyme, whatever I have. Bit of salt, bit of pepper and they are delicious! :)

So many great ways to love avocados! One of my fav recipes is to:

Mash 1 ripe avocado, add juice of 1/2 lime, s/p. Set aside. Wash small bunch kale, chop up and then massage avocado mix into kale [breaking down fibers]. Divide onto 4 salad plates, scatter halved grape tomatoes on each plate and top with crab cake, salmon/tuna/veg burger, chilled shrimp or whatever protein is being served. Sometimes I just use chickpeas straight from the can. The avocado-kale is still the star!

I enjoy avocados, served with crispy spinach, diced onions, arugula, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers as a side salad with Italian or vinaigrette dressing,alongside a chopped beef in tomato sauce with basil and green olives served over rice (white or brown) with fried green plantains as another side.

Ever make a BAT? Bacon, avocado, tomato sandwich! Toast your bread and use the avocado like you would mayo. I then sprinkle onion powder, and garlic powder and a little salt. Layer on bacon to flavor the avocado even more. Finish with rip tomatoes. Yum! even add basil, it's great. And I make it when I don't feel like doing much work to the avocado.

ok, here's a good one for you. It's Avocado Pudding.

The recipe is:

1 lg avocado peeled pitted and cut into chunks

1 lg banana peeled and cut into chunks

1 cup unsweetened soy milk

1/4 cup raw cocoa powder

2 Tbl of agave nectar

1 Tsp lemon juice

1/4 cup shredded unsweetened coconut (optional)

"It may seem odd to have a banana and avocado in the same recipe, but the banana completely hides any taste of the avocado. The avocado is there simply for texture and nutritional value. Even kids love this recipe! You can use any unsweetened milk in this recipe - almond, soy, rice, or coconut - and for a little crunch, use raw cocoa nibs instead of the cocoa powder. It really is surprisingly yummy! Enjoy

For lunch, I half and score in the half shell. One spoon scoop out of each half(ya gotta make sure they are tasty:)) then add chicken salad or really whatever leftover you have. 'Avocado Chicken'

Source: eMeals Classic Meal Plan for Two

Ingredients

1 teaspoon olive oil

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1/2 avocado, sliced

1 tomato, sliced

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

1. Heat oven to 350.

2. Heat oil in a medium skillet. Add chicken to the pan and sprinkle with onion powder, salt and pepper. Cook for 3 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned.

3. Transfer chicken to a greased baking dish and top each breast with avocado, tomato and cheese. Drizzle with lemon juice.

4. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cheese is melted and chicken is done.

I make chocolate pudding using avacado, maple syrup, vanilla and cocoa. I also love them on anything Mexican, or on burgers, salads, and in sushi.

Used to hate them after tasting them in junior high home ec foods class. Now can't get enough of them! Have been making guacamole non-stop for the last two weeks--along with the Green Smoothie kick I've been on since discovering your great smoothie recipe using kale. You're right--it DOESN'T taste like grass! Now, I just need a really good homemade guacamole recipe. Any suggestions? Can't wait to try avocados using the favorites posted by everyone! Thanks for the great ideas!

For breakfast, I love to toast a sourdough englsh muffin extra crispy then layer a thin bit of mayo and sliced avocados sprinkled with a bit of fresh lemon juice and Tabasco sauce, yummy!

I love it as a guacamole dip. I make it by dicing up an avocado, adding a little salt, juice of half a lime, and either salsa or hot sauce. Smash it with a fork - and eat on many things!

I love avocados on a salad made with spinach, grilled chicken, sliced tomatoes, cucumber and an Asian sesame dressing. Yummy! I also make a mean guacamole that my family loves with homemade nachos. I've had them in smoothies and can't believe how amazing they are!

I mash ripe avocados with a strong coffee extract I make using a French drip coffee pot or a Toddy or maybe just use very very strong coffee and I add sugar/honey or your sweetener of choice. Chill and eat as dessert. This dish has Indonesian roots.

I make homemade guacamole with 3 mashed avacado, 1 grated garlic clove (I use a nutmeg grater), finely diced onions, a dash or two of lemon juice, 1/2 cup lite sour cream. I mix in homemade salsa if I have some on hand. I love to dip pita chips in my homemade guacamole. yum!

My favorite way to eat avocados is on top of brown rice with scrambled eggs for breakfast. I add cilantro and green onion. I know most people don't eat onions in the morning, but I love it! It's also a great lunch :)

I used to live in El Salvador, and it rocked my snacking world when I discovered how they enjoyed their fresh avocado, with tortilla, salt, and local cheese. Here's my take on it. I toast a light Thomas english muffin and slice half of a small avocado onto it. Then I grind course salt over it (Trader Joe's has a variety of salt grinders), and top with a bit of low fat feta. At less than 250 calories, it's my favorite quick breakfast or snack!
