How do you make a Starbucks iced mocha? It is actually really easy. I’m not sure why we spend $5 on this!

Right now, we all want to escape the heat and an iced drink (with chocolate!) is a good way to go. I am a fan of the iced mocha and have ordered many myself BUT I don’t want to spend the money on it or the calories.

A Starbucks grande iced caffe mocha with 2% milk has 350 calories. Ouch.

Mine has 114 calories and I kept the whipped cream (that only adds about 15 calories). I have found that a better chocolate syrup is the way to go with a mocha. I found this Ghiradelli version at Walmart and it is tasty!

I also hear that there is a Torani mocha sauce out there – and if you can find it – you can’t really beat an Italian version of a mocha sauce.

I have made other iced mochas and used Mason jars for storage.

Do you really have time to stop into Starbucks? NO! You are busy and are ready for such a moment with some cold coffee that you either cold brewed, bought, or made earlier and stored in the fridge.

My concept here was to add some whipped cream to the top because it is actually pretty light and not mix the sauce into the drink. The chocolate sauce is great on top of the cream. You get to taste more chocolate this way.

You can add the whipped cream and the chocolate sauce to the Mason jar version to dress it up.

I think this is a great grown-up substitute for ice cream on a hot summer’s day. This is my pick me up at about 3 PM as I melt into a puddle.

1 tray of ice cubes
1/2 cup cold coffee (of your choice)
1/2 cup skim milk or unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon pressurized whipped cream
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup (such as Ghiradelli's)


Add ice cubes to a large glass. Mix coffee, milk, and syrup in glass. Add whipped cream and drizzle on the chocolate sauce and enjoy!

I think you forgot to include where/when to add in the milk for this recipe? I'm assuming it's with the coffee and the syrup, but just thought I'd let you know that it wasn't in there.

Confused as to where the 10 grams of fiber are coming from?!

Not a Starbucks copycat mocha! Must use freshly made espresso and real heavy cream whipped with vanilla.

This sounds very good. I will try it. I have been making Cold Brew decaf in my refrigerator and drinking it over ice with stevia and unsweetened almond milk which tastes pretty good when it’s 110 degrees here. I was sad that Starbucks dropped their Lite Frappuccino which I used to order. You would think there would have been enough people watching their weight tp keep it on menu.

This is very easy and very good. I have been making a version of this for years. But....the picture used here has way more than 1 tablespoon of whipped cream.

I buy Da Vinci *sugar free* caramel syrup. (Amazon) Then just add *sugar free* chocolate syrup and vanilla. I also use *fat free* 1/2 and 1/2.

I am sorry I left out the milk in the recipe and had 10 grams of fiber when it should have been zero. As for the whipped cream - it kept deflating! I tried to put on a little and then it would sink so I gave up and put a ton on to make it look like something. Yes, there is a too much whipped cream in the photo.

Love iced coffee! I save some from the morning brew in a mason jar too. My favorite right now is Lavazza Decaf bec, to me, it tastes like full caf and my sleep is not affected. I also love canned whipped cream as an occasional treat but for weight loss or weight management it's not in my daily menu--not even 1 tbsp--who can even measure 1 tbsp whipped cream? Not me. Luckily warmed up almond milk [30 sec zap] froths up just like whipped cream [I have a frother but prefer the immersion blender]. I use a cinnamon dusting BUT for a mocha latte, 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa and 1 tsp. coconut palm sugar would do the trick! Thanks for the do-over inspiration Lisa. I've never been a Starbucks customer so haven't fallen in love with these types of pleasure traps. I WILL try the iced mocha tomorrow, adding the cocoa and c.p. sugar in the warm coffee to dissolve better, then put on coffee ice cubes with alm. milk froth. I can't wait to try this! :)

I make something similar. I cold brew coffee for 24 hours then strain and refrigerate. When I want coffee I pour some (I never measure) in a cup with ice, a few splashes of skim milk and chocolate sauce or caramel sauce, shake and drink! I haven't done whipped cream but that sounds good to!

Freeze coffee in ice cube trays so it doesn’t get watered down with melting ice.

Sounds good but Starbucks has bittersweet mocha and espresso in their drink for the extra kick. But I'll try this anyway

Hi, sounds good but best to put the chocolate in the cup, then coffee followed by milk and lastly whipped cream. that’s how starbucks do it. Just sharing

Love your web sight, and your recipe is a good sub. for the real thing.I do go a little heavier on the syrup in mine.


My suggestion is get a frother to mix up your coffee drinks. It is a game changer!
