Time for Some Changes

December 29, 2019   35 Comments

It is time for some changes and some goals. Don’t worry! You got this!

new years resolutions

Last year, I posted Time for Some Changes 2019 - and received 61 responses from people who wanted to declare their goals for the year.

Were you one of them?

Go to the post and check if you wrote something. If you didn’t, this is your year. Declaring your goals in a public forum is a great way to accept that there are things that you want to do better.

I like the idea of starting fresh every year and thinking about how I might challenge myself. This was my list from 2019:

  • Enjoy my 50th birthday
  • Eat more fruits/vegetables every day.
  • Do a better job taking care of myself.
  • One 10K and THREE sprint triathlons (sounds exhausting)
  • Finally become a little fluent in Spanish

I tried to do all of these and was more successful with some goals than others. I did enjoy my birthday and managed to complete a 10K and three sprint triathlons. I took a Spanish class and crossed into the land of understanding a bit more (and butchering the language when I speak but I try hard to communicate).

More fruits and veggies? A constant battle and I continue to work on it. As for taking care of myself - yes, I did a better job because I had to do a better job.

I don’t want to go into all of the particulars but I ended up having two abdominal surgeries this year. I had an appendectomy and a hysterectomy. Those health challenges were not on my list of goals for 2019 and came as a major surprise (and not a good surprise like Brad Pitt jumping out of a cake).

BUT, this post is about moving forward - not ruminating on the past.

Here is my list for 2020:

  • Be more patient
  • One sprint triathlon
  • Enjoy my kids more
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables
  • Less screen time and more friends & family time

What I want you to do is to type in your resolution or resolutions in the comment section below.

My 2020 goals:

1. Pass my final national exam so that I can get a job in my field of study.

2. Eat more veggies - fruit I'm good with as I love it.

3. Try recipes that are healthy and tasty for me. I enjoy meat and tators. Now you see why I want to eat more veggies.

4. Make it through my 50th surrounded by those whom I love.

5. And finally, I know this isn't what is supposed to be said, but be happy with myself and who I am, where I'm at, and how I feel about myself.

My 2020 intentions are:

Be kinder to my body (making healthier choices and moving more)

Be kinder to others - if my comment isn’t helpful then it may not need to be said.

Thank you for all you do, Snack Girl! Wishing you health and happiness and lots of sunshine ☀️🥳🎉

Cut back on Sugar.

Go to Planet Fitness at least 3 times a week.

Lose weight in a healthy way.
Think before I speak.
Organize my home and office.

For 2020 my One Little Word actually is BRAVE. With that my goals are:

1- Get stronger body wise.
2- Mind what I put into my body.
3- Set daily prayer time.

4- Take time for each of my 4 children individually.

5- Remember me time is NECESSARY & not feel guilty

6- Do better in finances when it comes to spending & saving.

2020 goals:
1. Accept and love who I am
2. Be more mindful and patient
3. Listen

Feliz Ano Novo!

* Start a healthy morning smoothie routine

* Use my exercise bike daily
* Weed out the huge tubs of photos
* Find a way to see grandkids each week

1. Be more patient at work and home.

2. Walk everyday

3. Enjoy family time and do activities outside together.

Have a happy new year!

Enjoy my 85th year
Stick to my Blue Plan
Reduce work to half time
Spend more time with hubby
Average 7000 steps per day

Admirable goals, everyone. And @Tammy, no, the last one is most definitely to be said. As a matter of fact, it summarizes one of the very things I am set to do myself in 2020.

1. To love myself - to show myself the same compassion and care that I show to others, because I will be in a better position to give to others when caring for me.

2. To take time daily for a mental break in order to better discern how my day will look and what unnecessary things can be put aside.

3. To care for my body by embracing a real foods diet (minimal processed, greasy, sugary, and junky foods) for optimum health and reduced inflammation, and daily movement that I enjoy - mostly dancing.

4. To care for my emotional health-journaling,12 step work, prayer time.

5. To plan for my future by having a budget and a retirement plan. I will soon be 58 and it's about time I begin thinking of these things.

6. Not to beat myself up for all of the above if I don't do things perfectly.

Blessings to all in the New Year!!!

I turned 60 last Sept, I want to lose weight and be a healthy me for my family.

I want to be both healthy and happy in the New Year 2020. I have been a caregiver to a gentleman with Alzheimer's for the past three years, and have not given myself the time or attention that I need and deserve. Time to take care of ME, so that I can take care of others. Key word: BREATHE . . .

-Deepen my yoga practice.
-Find a weight routine I like.
-Go to the eye doctor.
-Go to the doctor for a physical.

-Get more skilled/comfortable in my new career.

-Engage in conversations to listen and learn.

-Define 53 as an age to love.

Accept myself as I am and realize that is good enough

Transition to gray hair with grace
Welcome my 59th birthday
Continue working out 4 times a week
Continue to track my eating

Assume positive intent - this will be very difficult:)

#1 Get myself mentally healthy, so I can sell my house and move to another state to be with my family.

#2 Embrace turning 70, instead of dreading it and looking at it in a negative way.

#3 Pay it forward.

Fingers crossed, achieving these three things will help me enjoy the rest of my life! 🤞

Beat my cancer

My watchwords for 2020 are Connect, Food, and Music. These are the areas where I’ll direct my focus for personal growth. As a work-at-home writer and an introvert, it’s far too easy to stay in my burrow, but I will focus more on maintaining connections and building new ones in 2020. Food (cooking, especially) and music bring me joy, but I haven’t stretched myself in those areas lately—relying on the same old recipes and playing the same old songs. It’s time to challenge my cooking and guitar/uke skills in 2020–which will help me connect via more dinner parties and guitar circles! Happy 2020, all!

I appreciate everyone’s goals, it helps to see we all struggle but overall we’re successful! As for me: -Get my attitude in line more when I irritated at my husband (it’s my problem not his) !!!! -Get up and move more, especially when I think I deserve to “just sit around “! -Overall health (food, physical, and mental). -Travel somewhere new (even if it’s my own State)! That should be a good start! ✌️

Bloom where I'm planted.

I want in 2020 to:

Eat better whole foods on the Purple WW list

Move more every day
Spend more time with my dying brother
Be there more for my hubby and son
