Pure Protein Bars Review

This Pure Protein Bars review is the latest in my ongoing quest to find the best protein bar.

Pure Protein Bars Review

There are so many on the market! I have taken a look at Built Bar Review and thinkThin Protein Bars and many others that I did not feature.

The latest bar is Pure Protein and I include it because unlike the Built Bar, you can find it in CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Costco. You can buy ONE and see if you like it (except if you buy them at Costco).

They do remind of the Built Bar because they are a bit of a chemical experiment to get you a product that looks and tastes like a candy bar.

The ingredients for the Chocolate Deluxe are:

Protein Blend (Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate), Chocolate Flavored Coating (Maltitol, Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil, Whey Protein Concentrate, Cocoa, Calcium Carbonate,Natural Flavors, Soy Lecithin, Sucralose), Hydrolyzed Collagen, Glycerin, Cocoa Powder, Water, Milk Chocolate Drops (Sugar, Whole Milk Powder, Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Butter, Milk Fat, Soy Lecithin, Natural Vanilla Flavor), Maltitol Syrup, Peanut Flour, Natural Flavors, Sucralose, Almond Butter, Soy Lecithin.

Nutrition Facts for the Chocolate Deluxe:

One bar is 180 calories, 4.5 g fat, 3 g saturated fat, 17 g carbohydrates, 3 g sugar, 4 g sugar alcohol, 21 g protein, 2 g fiber, 85 mg sodium, 5 Freestyle SmartPts

The bar is under 200 calories (which is good but I wish it was around 150). Also, as you can see there are sugar alcohols and this message is on the package:

Warning: This product contains sugar alcohols, which may cause gastrointestinal discomfort. Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect.

I did not have a problem with these (and I do have a problem with sugar alcohols). Perhaps there wasn’t enough to trigger a response.

I thought that this bar did taste like chocolate and it surprised me that there was no yucky sucralose after taste.

This Chocolate Chip Pure Protein bar tasted chalky and terrible. If I had tried this one first, I would never have bought another one. It was cloyingly sweet and odd in texture. FAIL!

I liked the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pure Protein bar the most of all of the flavors. It is remarkably like a chocolate, peanut butter candy bar. Would I eat this on a regular basis? Probably not, but I would stuff it in my purse for a trip.

These are chewy, like a Snickers Bar (but without the caramel or peanuts). I guess they are like nougat.

The manufacturer (Canadian) suggests that you drink a glass of water when you eat one and my guess is that it helps you digest the bar.

Do I think these are the best choice? I would still try to go with unprocessed food when you can but these are good in a pinch because they are lower in sugar than most of the bars on the shelf.

I have tried pure protein bars and i agree with you. My new favorite are “ One “ protein bars.

I like any flavor of the Pure Protein Bars. When you cannot keep fruit with you, these are great to stash in your bag. I also like the Slim Fast Bars for a snack.

You lost me at Maltitol🤣even the slightest taste of maltitol and my gut becomes a brewing volcano. I do like the built bars they do not have gluten and as of yet I e seen no maltitol. But I agree with you on the alcohol sugars. Ive been 15lb undergoal for 5 yrs @ WW and I occasionally occasionally with have a regular candy bar, bite the bullet and count the SP. I keep mini Dove dark chocolate pieces on hand. Thanks for keeping us updated on products.

All of these protein bars are so processed, with endless ingredients. I recommend the Rx Bar-real food, real ingredients, real protein from egg whites.

I couldn't stomach theses and I do ok with sugar alcohol. I remember throwing the pure protein bar away- can remember what flavor I had. I do agree with those mentioning built bar which I learned about from this website :) thank you Terry for the coupon code!

I eat the pure protein chocolate peanut caramel bars on a regular basis. They are as close as I can find to a real chocolate bar that satisfies my chocolate craving. Not a fan of the other flavors. The peppermint bark was a disappointment.

Would love to see you review Lara Bars. Any chance of that?

For people on Weight Watchers you might mention Quest Chocolate Brownie bars. They are only 4 Smart Points per bar (7 SP for two bars). All other protein bars have beaucoup points!

I am too on the quest to find the best protein bar. The one that tops my list beside Rxbar is Health Warrior organic and Jimmybars. Try each of these, and let us know how they are.

Exactly the same taste as eating a bar of soap!!

They're ok

Eating Pure Protein bars on a regular basis, even with water, results in constipation.

My stomach got upset like anything after eating this. :( :(

It has 200g of sodium, the highest I've ever seen in a bar. It gave me a head ache, my blood pressure was high after eating one. It is also high in fat!!!! So your weight will increase. Marketing tactic they only put calories, sugar and protein content on the package front. Everything else is a turn off in the ingrdiance section. I wish I didn't but it

I've been eating these bars for months with no ill effects. My least favorite is the birthday cake one (white with sprinkles), awful tasting. These are not high in fat, most only have 6g, and fat does not make you fat, excessive calories do. I give these high marks for taste and quality.

Where do the ingredients for the pure protein bars come from China????

This post is very informative about protein bars. Thank you for sharing this kind of post. Hope to read more from you.

Bars are amazing; no stomach issues whatsoever

Caramel is my favourite and chocolate is a close second

I got a 23 count box

of Pure Protein bars, which included bars of 3 different flavors. Of the 3, I liked the Chocolate Peanut Caramel flavor the best and liked the Chocolate Deluxe flavor pretty well.

Howevee, I found the flavor of Chocolate Peanut Butter to be most unpalatable. I cannot use the word for what it's taste reminded me of in this review. I will never buy this 23 pack combination again, even though the price is lower, for the reason that it includes the Chocolate Peanutbutter flavor bars in it.

I do not agree with her opinion on the pure protein bars. I love them. I've tried, just about all of them and I think they're the best tasting protein bars Ive tried. My only concern is I'm afraid of the old saying if it sounds (taste) to good to be true it probably is. I found her reviews by Googling are pure protein bars a good source of protein, and I haven't really found a bad review. I've lost over 100lbs but I struggled with building muscle. Doing OMA (one meal a day) my protein intake was not high enough. Now I'm trying to build muscle and finish my journey. I'm struggling with my belly but I e noticed the more protein I eat, and raising my calories I'm losing weight better and retaining muscle. So far I give these bars a 100 and no I'm not being paid by pure protein. Lol
