A few slices of salami go a long way
March 5, 2009
Why do I recommend salami? Well first of all, the taste is very strong. If you have a few thin slices for a snack, you probably won't be able to eat much more. Also, it keeps really well so you don't have to worry about it going bad.
Salami is cured not cooked, and that is why it contains nitrates for preservation. A cured salami can survive an entire year at room temperature. Italians came up with this way to preserve meat for the times when fresh meat wasn't available.
Different brands of salami really taste different. This is because the methods for making it can vary widely. Keep your mind open to new brands because you never know what lovely food you might find.
