Tomorrow I turn 50 years old. Age is just a number, right?

Snack Girl turns 50

I wish I could say I emulate the woman in the photo. She seems to calmly take in her surroundings as she tunes into herself. She is a master of the universe.

I think if I lived on a mountain, alone, and without much to do - I could attain serenity. But, I chose to live my life with two kids and a dog (as well as a partner). I own a car and a house (with the bank).

My worries are drawn on my face in a bunch of wrinkles.

But, there are some ways that I feel like Ms. Serenity up there. I feel physically great as I have been training for triathlons and I don’t have anything to prove.

What other people think of me and my choices - matters less and less. Material things have gotten less important and being positive has gotten more important.

I must say that working on Snack Girl for the last 10 years has given me plenty of perspective. This gig has been mostly fun and energizing. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings me.

To my 50 year old sisters and brothers - I join you in this decade - ready to make it my best one yet.

Been There, done that!! I turned 76 this past June with 55 years of marriage,also in June. I wondered where all the years went and why did the children grow up so fast. I also want to wish a Happy Birthday and welcomed to AARP.

Happy birthday and welcome to the club! I’m 53 and it is awesome!!! 20s were filled with angst. 30s I battled cancer twice. 40s I was finding my stride. 50s are the best!! Our daughter is now mostly independent so we have the money and means to travel, and are planning for retirement. It’s all good!!!

To tell you the truth, once we come to grips with the number, getting older is awesome!! I just turned 66 and I am so much happier than even 50.

What an awesome decade it will be! I’m happy you are on the ‘life is getting better’ awareness slide! I’m 57 and didn’t become an adult-onset-athlete until 49, as you know. Next for me is conscious practice of yoga, and, I hope, hiking. And I care less about what ‘others’ say now, and my pictures reveal older not better. 😁 (but with more wrinkles and who cares).

Happy Birthday! to you. Yes, age is just a "number". I will be 73 in seven days. I miss my Mom so much because on my birthday for many, many years I would call her and wish her "happy birthday" and thank her for all she did for me and my brother and sister. it wasn't really her birthday, but in a sense it was - she brought me in the world and so I celebrate her. To all who struggle with getting older, let that nonsense go! Embrace life, be thankful for seeing another day and for all you have accomplished, all you have and pray for those less fortunate.
