November 16, 2014
Do you know that college kids take classes in their pajamas? It makes the old days of getting dressed and trudging to class seems so….old.

Taste of Home Cooking School Online can be attended in your pajamas but I think you should probably wear an apron. These classes can be done from anywhere and anytime and offer you a practical course for easy and healthy cooking.
In case you didn’t know, Taste of Home is the most subscribed to cooking magazine in the country and they hold cooking classes all around the USA.
I took an online class called “Everyday Healthy Cooking” and I enjoyed it MORE than the Food Network. Why? Well, those shows are beautiful but not very practical. After watching the Food Network, I find myself dreaming of making gourmet food – but still putting frozen pizza in the oven.
Taste of Home’s class was filled with advice and recipes that I can use! I found the instructor, Dana Elliott, personable and funny. She motivated me to make an Herbed Salmon Fillet and buy a citrus zester (microplane). It seems that lemon and lime zest are low calorie ways to flavor salmon (yes!).
You can print out the recipes, watch the videos, and make sure you have all the right tools and equipment before you start. I am also lusting after a small whisk after watching her make sauce for Blueberry-Stuffed French Toast.
I guess people are stuffing their French toast with cream cheese (did not know that) and Dana suggests blueberries instead. Sounds like a good idea!
Other popular courses include:
- Weeknight Dinners in 30 Minutes
- Comfort Food Classics
- Slow Cooker Favorites
- Tips, Tricks & Techniques from the Test Kitchen
The website is easy to navigate and it was simple to figure out where I left off when I had to return. There was an area where you can ask questions and someone at Taste of Home will respond. The class was about 1 ½ hours long.
Go to Taste of Home Cooking School Online and enter “Tenoff” to get a $10 discount on your first class.
