Grilled Peaches Recipe (Naked)

This grilled peaches recipe is all you need. The “naked” part is that you can serve them without any toppings (don’t grill naked)!

Grilled peaches recipe

I fell in love with peaches when I lived in Athens, Georgia. Georgia is a peachy place.

There wasn’t a roadside stand I wouldn’t stop at if there were buckets of peaches. I don’t know how many I ate over my five years in Georgia, but I am sure they lost money when I left.

Chez Panisse, a very expensive restaurant in Berkeley, California, famously served a naked peach as dessert. There are peaches that don’t need any adulteration to be the absolute perfect, sweet food.

Grilling peaches can make them even more perfect (if that is possible). I have been grilling healthy food all summer. Check out my how to cook vegetables on the grill post and my and how to grill watermelon post to help you move past hamburgers and hot dogs.

Now is your moment to buy peaches. Go get them and if you can hold off from eating them immediately, you should grill them.

I make sure my grill is clean from whatever else I have been grilling. I heat the grill for about 10 minutes on high and then I scrub it with a ball of aluminum foil using tongs. I toss the peaches on and my family waits impatiently – “Peaches done yet?”.

The cooked peach explodes with flavor and the texture is like pudding. I serve them with whipped cream or nothing at all.

Sometimes, I used these as a side for whatever else I am grilling and they work with savory food. Also, I refrigerate them and eat them with yogurt for breakfast (if they make it that long).

I have found flats of peaches at Trader Joe’s and Costco and I don’t hesitate to buy them. If you can’t eat them fast enough, put them in the fridge so that they ripen more slowly.

Have you tried grilled peaches?

I love grilled peaches too and serve them along side grilled meats. In the morning however, I enjoy my peach cooked in the microwave. I slice the peach in half, remove the pit, place it in a bowl, and then micrwave it on high for 15 seconds or up to a minute, depending on the size of the peach and weather I'm having a half or the whole peach. A few blueberries sprinkled along is quite nice also. A dollop of plain greek yogurt & a sprinkle of granola... yum!

Never tried to grill them before and Karen, I like your idea. Will definitely try both.

This looks fantastic! I can't wait to try them. I too lived in Athens, Georgia, for several years (master's from UGA), and have vivid memories of picking AMAZING peaches with my roommates. We ate so many while we were picking we were stuffed for the rest of the day. I've been a huge peach fan ever since.

Peaches are one of my very favorites - such that I grow them in my backyard. I also microwave them, add a little bit of splenda brown sugar and I'm in heaven! Thanks for the grill idea.

I adore peaches, my absolute favourite way to eat them is cooked on my griddle & then chopped up & served with cottage cheese inside half a charantais melon, wonderful as a lunch & surprisingly very filling. 🙂

Looks good, but here up north, it's darn hard to find good, sweet, juicy peaches. So when we can get them, I just want them plain, fresh, with juice running down your chin when you eat them. The ones I've found in the stores here so far are hard as wood, and half as tasty.

dishes from baked peaches? I have never eaten it

I agree with Kevin - here in Michigan all the peaches arrive in the stores/markets like rocks. Literally hard as a rock - I suppose that's for shipping purposes...but even if you take them home and allow them to ripen - they are pulpy and dry...hard to get a decent peach here. I have however, had some luck at Costco - when they have the white peaches...sometimes I hit them right and they're delicious...but that's only 'sometimes'...other times not so good...but we keep trying! Thanks for the tip on ways to use them WHEN we happen to get a good batch.

They're also super delicious with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream!

I too live in MI and picked up a box of fresh peaches from Trader Joe’s yesterday because they looked OS good...hope I’m not disappointed. But my plans are to grill the peaches in a WW recipe I found some years back for grilled pork tenderloin where you brush your tenderloin w a peach preserve-chipotle in adobo sauce and after the pork is done you grill the peaches, also brushed w the sauce. This is my all time fave pork tenderloin recipe💕

No but I'm planning on doing some nectarines tonight since that's the fruit I have right now

Thanks for the great tips

Sounds so delicious and want to try this...just wondering if there is any particular ripeness the peaches should be to get the best result. For example, very ripe/soft or better when the peach is a bit firm but gives a bit when squeezed gently?? Thanks, can't wait to try this.

For those who live where it is hard to get good ripe peaches, I would think this would be a good time to grill them. They should be softer after grilling and if there not sweet put a little brown sugar on top before grilling..

@Marianne - I like these when the peaches are firm but ripe. Too ripe and they fall through the grate. Thanks for the question!

I love, love, love peaches, and I am so spoiled here in SC. There are actually more peaches harvested from Upstate SC (where I live), than in the state of Georgia from what I hear! I go to one of the local orchards every week in the summer and buy a bag or sometimes a basket of peaches. I have never grilled them, so I will have to try this. I love a peach over my oatmeal every morning in the summer, and I make a peach cobbler about once a week. It’s one of my teenage son’s favorite deserts.

Wow, just wow. What a revelation! Tried at lunchtime at this will now be a regular summer treat for me. Creamy, delicious, concentrated peach flavor. I’m in love!!!!

You gave me my first laugh of the day (don't grill naked)! I also lived in Athens, Georgia, for five years (University of) How 'bout them Dawgs!

At the Publix here in Florida they have containers of donut-shaped peaches with white flesh. I first had them in Italy. They are the sweetest peaches I've ever tasted, but a difficult shape to grill. I did see small round peaches with white flesh as well, so I will try grilling those.

@Chris G, can you share the WW recipe for pork tenderloin with peach preserve-chipotle in adobo sauce, please? Or just the sauce?

Wow, these look amazing. I live in an apartment on the 2nd floor, but I do own a stovetop grill pan and that is where I am going to make these. It's great idea as a side as with savory food. I would use them in a salad with grilled chicken, and in the morning with oatmeal or Greek yogurt. Thanks!

@Cyndy....took me a while to locate but the WW grilled peaches basting sauce is as follows:

1/2 c peach preserves
1 T apple cider vinegar
1 t Dijon mustard
1 t minced chipotle en adobo
1 t brown sugar
1/4 t salt

The pork tenderloin was to be brushed w half of this mixture and the peaches brushed w remaining mix. Really is spectacular! Enjoy!1

Thanks so much, Chris. I have pork tenderloin in the freezer and most of the rest of the ingredients. I love the idea of combining mustard with the preserves. I might try making the preserves if my grocery store still has the soft peaches.

I have fond memories of going to an orchard to pick peaches when we visited my Grandma in California every summer. We’d end up with 100 lbs instead of 50! Grandma and my Aunts would spend all afternoon canning and making cobbler while we cranked ice cream. Peaches will always be my favorite fruit!

I’m going to try “grilling” them in my air fryer.
