Happy Thanksgiving!

I know you will all start traveling (you may be currently on the road) and I wanted to make sure that I sent my regards before you went offline.
No one should be reading Snack Girl on Thanksgiving because your phones should be TURNED OFF so you can enjoy the food (and maybe the people if you are lucky).
Thanksgiving may be food packed but it can be a lovely time to reflect with family and friends. I have been posting about Thanksgiving for a couple of weeks now and here are some of the food posts you may have missed:
Thanksgiving in my house is pretty amazing. A few years ago, I decided that I was sick of cooking at Thanksgiving so I changed things quite a bit.
All of the cooking happens on Thursday and we ALL COOK. I actually have an Excel spreadsheet with the dishes and times for each of us to be in the kitchen. My kitchen is small so it is important that we schedule things or it might get ugly. We start at 8:00 AM and end at 4 PM.
You know if you have been the chef on Thanksgiving that you have threatened someone with a knife if they were in your way.
My 13 and 15 year old each have responsibility for two dishes and they enjoy making them. I am actually kind of on “back-up” because I get the recipes that no one wants to make (salad anyone?).
My husband drives to our local turkey farm (not making this up) to pick up a bird who has been free ranging until now. He handles the bird because he loves it.
At the end of the day, around 4 PM, we sit down as the sun is setting and eat all the food that we worked so hard to make. I can tell you that eating is the best part.
I hope that you all drive safe, enjoy your families and friends, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so grateful that you chose to spend some time with me here.
Lots of Love,
Lisa
