Starbucks Seared Steak, Egg & Tomatillo Wrap Review

Starbucks new seared steak and egg wrap captured my attention because of the emphasis on protein.

Starbucks Seared Steak, Egg & Tomatillo Wrap Review

Steak for breakfas, seems like it is one of those ideas for the Atkin’s diet set. Of course, if you are a rancher in Montana – you probably have steak and eggs every day.

I have been taking a look at Starbuck’s breakfast food options for a while. I like both the Starbucks Sous-Vide Egg Bites and the Starbucks Oatmeal.

What about this steak wrap? It looks very appetizing above in the case. Perhaps it should remain there because below is a photo of it right after opened the bag.

The steak jumped right out of the wrap! I happened to take a “friend” on this excursion to Starbucks who laughed at my food and pronounced that it looked like (and I am quoting here) “dog poop”. Thank you!!

It didn’t taste like poop but it sure didn’t taste good.

This is the nutritional information for the wrap:

410 calories, 18 g fat, 5 g saturated fat, 43 g carbohydrates, 4 g sugar, 21 g protein, 2 g fiber, 780 mg sodium, 12 SmartPts

I didn’t see any sign of the tomatillo salsa but I did find one teeny-weeny slice of onion (it was supposed to be topped with caramelized onion).

The worst part was the eggs. I don’t know if you can see it but it was like eating SpongeBob – a spongy yellow blob.

In all of my years of food reviews, I have never encountered a fail as big as this wrap. The meat was tender but way too salty, the tortilla was gummy, and the egg was like eating a kitchen sponge.

Honestly, I expect more from Starbucks. For almost $5, I want this sandwich to be a healthy choice, delicious, and memorable (in a good way). What were they thinking?

I almost walked up and asked for my money ($4.95) back but there was a line and I had somewhere else to be. Isn’t there always a line when you want to get your money back?

I'm sorry you had this experience. I have had the sandwich three times and mine (in Grand Rapids, MI) have never looked looked yours. I found it to be warm and inviting with just a little bite from the tomatillo. Perhaps you just had a bad experience? By the way I, too, like the sous vide eggs and the spinach feta egg wrap.

Thank you for this review!! I absolutely love seeing your reviews from different fast food places. I appreciate your honesty about this Starbucks experience. Usually when I go to Starbucks, I am never disappointed with the oatmeal. You rock!

I'm ok with coffee and tea at Starbucks but I think the extent of my food experiences at Starbucks would be bagels, oatmeal and fruit. Of course I'm a bad judge of things like this sandwich because I honestly can't even remember the last time I ordered anything resembling fast food from any restaurant, the nutrition stats are just too bad on all of them.

Lisa, thank you for your review - I, unfortunately, had to chuckle at some of your observations. What a lousy sandwich! Too bad the line was long; Starbucks certainly owes you a refund!

Why is there sugar in it?

Great Review! Thanks

Had it this morning... They should rename it "egg on one end, steak on the other" wrap... Not impressed 😲

I just ordered this for the first time this morning and more than half of it is already in the garbage. Terrible, terrible sandwich. The tortilla wasn't soft after they heated it up, overbrowned and tough. While some of the steak was good, there were a couple very fatty pieces. And partway into my wrap, I encountered cold spongy egg. Yuck! Won't order this again. That's $5 wasted.

I love this sandwich, but you need to get the side of guacamole to "dip" the wrap into it. It's so juicy and flavorful. I haven't had a bad one yet, and I've eaten it about 5 times.

Wish I had read your review before I bought one of these and brought it back to my office to eat. I completely agree with everything you've noted. It looked far, far better in the case; on mine the meat was tender by tasteless, there wasn't a shred of tomatillo to be found and the eggs? *shudder* - oh my, so bad - I thought what you wrote as I choked down the first bite of egg. Like eating a kitchen sponge. Blech! Big fail on this one, Starbucks.

Im at Starbucks and was skeptically contemplating how " real" this wrap could taste. I found your review and am glad I did not waste my money or the calories. I actually think their food tastes like airplane food for the most part. Beverages our family enjoys daily but the food, not good. Yes I have had the feta wrap, etc but in general the food is surprisingly awful.

that is good
