Need A Dessert But Out of Points? 10 Solutions For Your Sweet Tooth

May 23, 2013   10 Comments

We have all been there. At the end of the day, still wanting something sweet when we KNOW we aren’t really hungry.

Low Calorie Desserts

I can tell you that I crave chocolate at about 8 PM most nights. I do a mental scan of the house and try to remember if I’ve got any of the good stuff.

Snack Girl doesn’t advise denial. Denial of a craving sets you up for failure because you feel cheated out of something you really want. Give yourself permission to satisfy the craving with a lesser evil.

All of the desserts below are 3 Points+ (about 150 calories) or below. They have been Snack Girl tested for deliciousness and do not use any artificial sweetener or non fat dairy. Many of these treats are small because of their portion size.

Give a few of them a try and let me know if they work for you.

Best trick I've found for chocolate craving? Slice up a banana and drizzle with 1T of chocolate syrup. One point, and, bonus! Serving of fruit!!

For chocolate cravings at night, I take plain greek yogurt, vanilla extract, stevia and unsweetened cocoa powder and blend it together. It satifies my chocolate craving and it's so low in calories!!

I'm w/banana choc. Only I melt a tablespoon of Nutella and dip my banana

This is my first visit to your website and I love it. (Don't tell Lisa Lillian, I think I like it better than hers..sh-sh-sh-)

Wanted to tell you I have eaten rhubarb before; my granny used to make pie with lots of sugar because it is so bitter, she said. I plan on making your crisp version in the near future.

Thank you for all the yummy recipes!

Try FOAM, a non-fat whipped topping with 9 points per can. Dispence directly into the mouth for a "quick fix", two squirts, "no points", satisfies that "sweet tooth craving" immediately.

I grew up eating loads of rhubarb, but never made a strawberry and rhubarb pie until I was married. I was amazed at the taste difference. The strawberries really increased the sweetness of the pie and I could cut back a bit on the sugar.

These ideas for a healthier nighttime snack are exactly what I needed for those nights that I crave something sweet. I usually just eat the same old thing-yogurt with strawberries and Java Raiz! Now I have something different to try. Thanks Lisa!

luv, luv, luv your Snack Girl!! Re: vanilla extract -u can by pure vanilla extract with no corn syrup added and it is gluten free. it is made by Spice Islands.I found it at Publix here in Fla.

Great post thanks but not sure I can really do brownies with black beans.

When I crave a sweet & shouldnt add any more calories I skin & cut up an apple sprinkle it with cinnamon & stick in microwave for a minute. U can add splenda if u want but I dont think it needs it. When I take it out of microwave I crumble a graham cracker on top & if u ha e a few calories left u can add no fat whipped cream but is good without it Good fake apple pie
